Today, the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) is enjoining every Filipino to give honor and acknowledgment to all Filipino workers for their undying contributions and sacrifices and to commemorate the labor movement that made history for our great nation.
Philippines Labor Day is celebrated annually on May 01 to celebrate hardworking Filipinos across the country and across the whole world. It is known as the “Araw ng Manggagawa”. It was first celebrated on May 1, 1903 when a hundred thousand workers were organized by the country’s first labor organization, “Union Obrera Democratica de Filipina (U.O.D.F.)” marched from Tondo’s Plaza Moriones to Malacañang, demanding fairer working conditions from the then American-led government.
On April 8, 1908, the Philippine Assembly passed a Bill officially recognizing the first of May as a national holiday.
Mabuhay ang mga manggagawang Pilipino!
