After hurdling six months of comprehensive and rigorous training as new cadets, one hundred (100) strong fire and jail cadets of the Philippine Public Safety Academy (PPSA) SANDIGMANLAYA Class of 2024 finally held their Recognition Rites on December 08, 2022, at National Jail Management and Penology Training Institute (NJMPTI) Grandstand, Camp Vicente Lim, Calamba City, Laguna.
The momentous event was graced by PLTGEN RICARDO F DE LEON (Ret) Ph.D., Director General, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. In his meaningful message, he highlighted the “5Gs” that every cadet as a government servant should imbibe such as Gratitude, Grit, Grace, Governance, and God-centered life.
The PPSA Debate Team was also recognized by the PLTGEN DE LEON by giving of Plaque of Recognition for being the Champion in their first attempt in participating in the Philippine Inter-Academy Debate held last November 25-27, 2022.
Recognition as the second “TION” in a cadetship shall be one of the honored traditions of the PPSA where the most coveted handshake of the upperclassmen will be given to the new cadets. It symbolizes recognition of victory and the successful indoctrination of the new culture and tradition of the cadet corps. Likewise, it also means greater responsibilities as they move forward to becoming fine leaders of the country who will lead and serve with COURAGE and INTEGRITY.
As this pioneering batch of PPSA soars high and proves their worth as future public safety officers, SANDIGMANLAYA Class 2024 stands firm with its very meaning — “Sandata ng Diyos na Gagabay sa Mamayan Tungo sa Layuninng Mag-alay ng Serbisyong Tapat at Mahusay.”
“True leaders don’t create followers, they create more leaders.” – Tom Peters

A higher stripe is a symbolic representation of an arduous step to demonstrate competent leadership. This is just another stage in exemplifying the appropriate and holistic practices of leading, in accordance with the existing rules and regulations of the Blue and Gray Book (Cadet Guide), for the benefit of the Alma mater, the cadet corps, and the succeeding “New Cadets.”
The PPSA SANDIGMANLAYA Class of 2024 with the presence of their friends, families, and relatives is now formally accorded as “Third Class Cadets”. They will create a path as future “Formators” for their underclassmen’s advancement, enhancement, and development of the upcoming Class of 2025.
Moreover, after six (6) months, the class officers of PPSA SANDIGMANLAYA Class of 2024 having the authority and accountability invite bigger duties and responsibilities. The newly inducted class officers are now expected to demonstrate the utmost characteristics of a servant leader.
The induction of class officers signifies the reliance and confidence that the PPSA formation officers and the corps of cadets entrust in the elected class officers. Bearing the weight of responsibility, they have sworn to give to their duties the best of their abilities. The newly inducted class officers will represent their class for the duration of their cadetship program.
In consonance with the institution’s battle cry, “to lead and serve with courage and integrity”, truly the impacts of these relentless efforts for a better and safer tomorrow stand out and are remarkably seen today.
