MORE THAN 1,000 APPLICANTS SET TO UNDERGO EXAMINATIONS FOR THE NEW PHILIPPINE PUBLIC SAFETY ACADEMY (PPSA)
A total of 1,065 applicants from different provinces nationwide are set to undergo the Cadet Admission Test (CAT) on April 28, 2022 for the newly-established Philippine Public Safety Academy (PPSA) for the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP). Of this number, 446 are for the BFP and 619 are for the BJMP. Eight (8) testing centers were created to facilitate the examinations of the qualified applicants for the different regions as follows: Quezon City for the National Headquarters and NCR; Baguio City for CAR and Regions 1, 2, and 3; Calamba City for Regions 4A, 4B, and 5; Iloilo City for Region 6; Cebu City for Regions 7 and 8; Zamboanga City for Region 9; Cagayan De Oro City for Region 10 and CARAGA; and Davao City for Regions 11 and 12.
Cadet applicants for the fire and jail bureaus are already in service personnel with the ranks of Fire Officer 1- Fire Officer 2 (FO1-FO2) and Jail Officer 1-Jail Officer 2 (JO1-JO2), respectively. Officers from the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) who has the administrative control of the new Academy, the BFP, and the BJMP will serve as proctors for the PPSA CAT.
Top 60 candidates for each Bureau will be selected and will undergo the neuropsychiatric, medical, and dental examinations as well as the physical fitness test prior to their final nomination. The current approved quota of cadets for the PPSA is 50 (45 males and five females) for each Bureau and successful applicants are scheduled to take their oath on June 1, 2022. The PPSA was created with the signing of the Department Circular No. 2022-009 “Creation and Operationalization of Philippine Public Safety Academy (PPSA) pursuant to RA No. 11279.”
